  15. For those of you who thought that ESCOM was good for the
  16. Amiga, here's the latest news:

  18. THE AMIGA-TECH UK OFFICES ARE TO CLOSE
  19.  
  20. Not that this is surprising, given that ESCOM has done
  21. zero advertising in the mainstream UK press. They have
  22. made some Amiga mention in their glossy PC magazines
  23. that they give away at ESCOM stores, and have advertised
  24. (get this!) their PC range in *Amiga magazines*. Plus,
  25. the staff in their stores are all PC zombies anyway
  26. who probably wouldn't know what Workbench is.

  28. The news is that of the six staff members at AmigaTech UK,
  29. four will be laid off, and the surviving two will go to
  30. ESCOM's main HQ at Stansted. Sounds to me like good ol'
  31. C=/Gould/Ali corporate philosophy at work - if in doubt,
  32. lay off staff!!! Sad thing is, that C= was a mainly Amiga
  33. company that also happened to make PCs, while ESCOM is an
  34. avowedly PC company that also happens to own the
  35. Amiga. Damn.

  44. Date: 10 January 1996

  46. Amiga Technologies are to relocate their offices from
  47. Maidenhead to Stansted as from Monday January 29th 1996.
  48.  
  49. Full address and telephone numbers will be given once new
  50. telephone lines have been established as we will occupy part
  51. of the Escom building, close to Stansted Airport, which
  52. are more spacious and prestigious than those we have
  53. currently.
  54.  
  55. Stansted has always been a consideration but Maidenhead
  56. allowed the company to become up and running more quickly
  57. last year for the re-emergence of Amiga computers.

  59. As there is a team of approximately forty people in 
  60. Germany supporting areas such as finance, product
  61. evaluation and technical support, some staff will
  62. not relocate.
